Is it possible to attach an external hard drive to an Xbox 360 to serve as the Xbox’s hard drive?
I am looking into buying an Xbox 360 soon, and I have found an excellent deal on a 360, but it comes with no hard drive. Since I obviously would like to save my progress on games, I’d need a hard drive for that. I currently have a Western Digital 320GB external hard drive, and was wondering if I could plug that into the Xbox via USB port to use as the hard drive for the Xbox. If that doesn’t work, then I have a laptop-sized 120GB hard drive that would work for the Xbox, but is it possible to use that drive as well?
No.
You can only save games and downloaded content to an official Microsoft Xbox 360 hard drive or memory unit. You can plug in a USB hard drive, but it can only be used for playing back music and videos.
